i just started looking through our email conversations before cadenza x (haha i bet we all forgot they existed) we used to have a few conversations every day! i miss the times we complained about our playing, the times we encouraged each other, the times we spammed our own tagboard with retarded things, the times we indived in the morning, the times we did stuff as a batch (like the farewell socks, and the lame red indian thing)

but it's all in the past! i guess we won't be doing these things anymore, but that's ok (:

the whole batch came last thursday right? :D i am probably exaggerating but i think it's amazing. it's even better than picking up $2 from the ground, or eating icecream :D yay!

19 is such a small number that we can like, count it with our fingers and toes O: so i really hope we make use of the little time we have left, and CHIONG TO THE END! like sprinting the last round of 2.4km! (and then dropping dead after finishing the run, but that is irrelevant) and the most important part of the run isn't about how fast you run, whether your sash is a nice colour, or whether you look glam/unglam while running, but about all the cheers of encouragement from your friends every time you pass by, because they spur you on! so let's sprint this last lap together as a batch, whether or not you have passion commitment friendliness humility responsibility, WHO CARES, it'll be our last concert in rgssb (and for most of us, the last concert in our lives) so we will make it a memorable and enjoyable one and make all our dreams come true :D

hello everyone (: wouldnt you know it, its the end of june hols alr! well, for us anyway, since school is starting 2 days earlier for us as compared to all the other schools in singapore ):
in any case, we're starting T3 soon (week 0, but nonetheless still term 3)! so just wanted to say jiayou jiayou jiayou, both in terms of academics (EYAs o.O) and band (31 days to cadenza, and 36 (i think?) days to comp!). haha enjoy this coming whirlwind of a ride! (:

Hey batch! :D

First of all, I wanna congratulate everyone who has gotten into EXCO for year 2008(: The band has seen something in you, voted for you, and put their trust and faith in you. So don't let them down! It won't be a bed of roses serving in EXCO and there'll be expectations you all have to fulfil, but I urge everyone of you to give your best and take your different positions seriously. If you ever need help, don't be afraid to ask your seniors or even your fellow batchmates. We'll be here for you!

Secondly, to the rest of the batch: Don't worry about not being selected to be in EXCO alright. If you do have a heart to serve in RGSSB, you will still in your own little ways, contribute to the band(: I have faith in you all and I believe that even without any position you can still rise up as servant leaders and contribute greatly in RGSSB. And for those who have been unfailingly giving your all for RGSSB, thank you so much! I love you all and I know you will continue being the great people you are<3

And well, a big thank you to everyone for believing in me. I promise to give my best and my all to serve and lead RGSSB, and I sincerely hope to see each and every member of RGSSB enjoy their journey through their 4 years in band, and also to see you all grow as a person, as a batch, as a band. Feel free to give me any feedback and suggestions on how to improve on the way I'm leading yep? :D I'll constantly still have to rely on all of you for support, strength, advice and guidance. (:

And yes the very important Farewell'07 is coming up in a week's time. Please please please practise on your own and I'm sure we all want a happy farewell before we become the top batch! Oh yes, as we become the top batch in a week's time, do remember that there will be certain expectations of us. Do try your best to fulfil these expectations and I hope all of us will try to the best of our abillity to be the best seniors we can be, and to set a good example for the rest of the band. Yep.

Hello really dead batch blog! (The following post shall be a monologue with the batchblog)

Because my batchmates are too busy to update you, I SHALL! oh rejoice (HAHA chloe, remember i wanted to name our batch dance that)

Anyway, i kinda realised we never put down a SYF post into your record! What a sad sad thing to leave out our major-est event of our bandlife, regardless of whether it was the saddest or not. But fear not because i am NOT going to type about something that's happened 2 months ago because my poor small brain does not have the capacity to recall things like that

So, i shall update about something that happened only 2 days ago! Although sadly, only another 5 people will be able to fully comprehend these pictures O:

While waiting for blogger to upload the two wonderful pictures, i shall continue typing.

We've been having commander's trainings and hardcore footdrilling recently - 100% guarantee to make your muscles ache and make you feel you've burned off some of that calories from potluck! (Only valid if you've been pointing your toes) oh and give you a naturally low and sexy voice such that we do not even need to go low on purpose!

Special mention and credit goes to Delise Yang for taking her commander's test yesterday! GO DEE we gave you our fullest co-operation :D EUU DA BESTZX MANSZX <3>

Okay now that the pictures have been uploaded, I SHALL TALK ABOUT POTLUCK WOHOO.

1. Record attendance: 6 - thus resulting in an advantage due to few cutlery but also a disadvantage due to 1.5 litres of Cookies&Cream ice cream hahaha

2. Jump shot in front of Zara! +0+4llY embarrassed ourselves man! and thank you for being so patient, to the-person-who-took-our-shot. WE WON AMAZING RACE, did you see that!

3. Zong zi mi ma with fried rice O: plus, EAT or DARE, unfortunately most chose to do the dare instead of stuffing another mouthful of rice in our mouths

Gosh our blog is so stagnant.
Yeah anyway, we just had our first partial-batch08 public performance! Kind of. But yeah! (CLAP CLAP CLAP)

I think we didn't really screw up right? I'm really sad I couldn't be there though, but THANKS SO MUCH to all who came for practices and put in effort and time for this thing (: And also for bearing with my uptightness and everything. We should so arrange our batch song for the entire batch to play haha! When we have time or something. Whoo (:

Oh yeah one more point. I think we (not just the batch) should learn how to ignore. (Ignorance is bliss!) There have been alot of tagging incidents happening, for example, the HC guy's blog incident. Because words there cannot be taken back, and the consequences can be really big. Oh, and try not to tag anonymously. for those who have been living under a stone (ie, stoning)..

1. the banner is almost complete (: those who havent come down to paint at all you wont see it till its done, which is when we present it to mr oura and the band. hopefully we get to place it somewhere which we'll be able to constantly look at and feel happy about it

2. SYF'07: 10th April, Tuesday 4.15pm
if you still dont feel anything, slap yourself. and if you STILL dont feel any pain from that slap, come to me, zhenyi or chloe. we'll do it for you and make sure you feel it. our pleasure.

3. i didnt want to post this but i was told by someone that on the day mr oura walked out on us, he went for this 'conductor exchange' thing (i think its like the conductors get to conduct other bands) so when he went to a certain school.. he told them that he walked out on us, rgssb because we have no heart to play and we go for band prac for the sake of it. this isnt meant to demoralise you or anything but well.. you SHOULD get what i mean

4. miracles wont happen if you dont work hard. and i believe what we want (hopefully you arent aiming for a silver) is still within reach IF every single one of us really Really REALLY do it. this time, really put practice before your syf presents and notes - what do you have to write in a note anyway if you dont practice

I just read this random newspaper article about the pride of Indians about their country. and their slogan for the upcoming cricket world cup is "Without pride, there is nothing" It applies to almost anything. Without pride in your cca, without pride in your instru, without pride in yourself, really nothing will come out of it. Only with pride can passion come forth because you feel for it and you are proud of it, then you will learn to love it.

So maybe along the way here or there, many of us (including me) lost this pride. Hopefully in this last stretch to SYF (exactly or almost one month), we'll try our very best and not end with regrets and guilt. The pain of regret and guilt is really a very harsh one, trust me ):

hello guys (:
haha i was debating between posting or not, cos i realised i had roughly forgotten the password WHOOPS >< but then when i finally retrieved it from some dusty corner in my head i decided to come and blog. and GUESS WHAT? the password was saved in the comp all along. haha!
anyway.
syf's piece is confirmed! yay a technically challenging piece, with mice emo parts. this will really teach us to work as a batch/band huh. esp with expressing all the phrases together.
La Boheme is really nice! So everyone one jiayou ok! we must not mr oura and our directs down. if mr oura feels this will bring our band will up to higher standards (smth sounds wrong with the phrase but nvm) then we must believe him!
there's still about 7 mth to syf. a lot of time to improve if we set our hearts to it, and too short if we dont prac hard enough.
so jiayou as a batch! work hard for La Boheme cos its such a PRETTYYY song.
remember! we can make something wonderful sound like crap, and we can make crap sound wonderful. since we have such a beautiful song, carry it properly ok (: however we sound its really up to us.
so prac harder and dont give up! prac for both LaBoheme and ElCamino (:
oh yes. in your midst of pracing, dont forget what our main purpose is as well. enjoy yourself making music!

I thought I'd revive this seemingly dying blog. (Even the tagboard is dying D:!) Don't you remember the time when there was at least a post every other day and the tagboard was alive and kicking? I mean, like I would come back every other day and have to read through LOOOONG lists of tags to get back to my last tag. Hoho, let's revive this place a lil' yeah?

Okay, on to the serious stuffs now. Hmmm, since the last post, well Farewell 06 is over and I think we all know how we feel about it. I'm sure we've all treasured our directs and been really sad over a period of days (or maybe weeks or even longer) at the thought of them leaving. Good things always come to an end, time is cruel D:

Now that they're out of the band, it means we're gonna be Sec3s soon, which means we're gonna be directs soon. We all know what we need to buck up on in terms of playing our instrus and anything else yeah, so I hope that we'll all work really hard for the rest of this year and next year alright? SYF gold with honours, presentation! For now, it's still not too late to dream. We mustn't disappoint them! Yeah, prac hard, everyone.

We must go for batch outings/bonding sessions after the exams and during the hols alright? Chalet/Sentosa outing, heh. For this coming week, jiayou for Math SA, Geog SA and Chinese PT, everyone! And for those taking Philo, the Utilitarianism journal. I'm slogging my heart out over here too (like real)!

thank you for making yesterday so magical and i hope we all are glad we have one more chance on that stage with our direct batch. i realised vch is really going to hold so much memories of rgssb for me. unisono, cadenza x, nbc'06 .. and of course next sunday's performance. for those who felt that they didnt do their best yesterday (ie. me) one more chance to get it right and redeem ourselves! i.must.get.the.vibe.solo.right.if.not.i.will.regret.for.life. okay anyway for those who are feeling the "rgssb magic" for the first time (or so ive been hearing shimin rambling on and on about it) good for you! and may that feeling last for your entire journey in band, serving as that source of motivation for you to keep going and just give it your all. build on that feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction with every achievement and it'll drive you forward. ~~HEY I REALISED GEORGIA IS A NICE FONT!~~ sorry irrelavent sentence. urhm, yah okay thats it. lets all walk UP that same vch stage with pride and joy (especially for happy ending okay!) next week!

even more importantly, must jiayou for comp. its 9 wonderful days away. 216hours (approx!) more. shant bother counting the mintues since its constantly changing anyway. does anyone have the code for the countdown thingy? i think we really need to know exactly how many seconds till comp before we feel anything.

ATEMPO! those who went, yay! those who didnt, GO NEXT TIME! 100% guarantee that you'll be awed and amazed. (hoho i learnt my english ad techniques well) anyhow yeah it was great. rjcsb's woodwinds, brasses and percussion (ie the whole band) are strong Strong STRONG like whoa. and sitting down there you could really tell that mr oura was a happy man conducting a happy band. ~~if only we could do the exact same thing for competition and all other concerts and competitions.~~

anyhow i really hope our batch will put in our all for that competition one month ahead. prac hard and give it everything. to most of you, it is you last chance on stage with your directs. dont you want to do them proud? dont you want to walk off the stage with even more pride than you had during cadenza? dont you just want to make it the best performance ever?

band break ends next week and band pracs officially start again. dont drag yourself there next tuesday. make it a new beginning. if you know you havent been pracing this two weeks then there's still 3 more days. it may not be much but you certainly dont want to go to band prac without a slightest memory of how inn or emblem sounds like. even if you dont have your instruments, at least know your scores i guess. as a percussionist i dont exactly know how its like for wind instrus but yeah.

anyhow, i really hope to see everyone there at band prac next tuesday, not only physically okay. bring your mind, bring your heart and bring the music (:

it's all over! relax, people! cadenza'a finally over! (:
and i'm gald we were able to walk off the stage with pride!

for me cadenza was one of my best concerts (cos its the first time i'm playing big parts mah!) and for you guys, your first major one! i hope it gave all of you a feeling of what it is like to play with the band on stage, in front of so many people. and i hope cadenza motivated all of us to work harder for competition and the many more performances/competitions to come. may each performance be greater than the last! shine, rgssb!

hohum i havent forgotten what i've done...i just decided that i shall continue the repair only after cadenza. cos now's the time to concentrate on our playing as a band! like the lyrics says, its just twelve more days. jiayous and nothings gonna stop us now! oh yes and no matter what happens "we'll still have each other". always remember that the difference with playing solo and playing in a group is that in the group there must be cooperation. trust. moqi. its very very different. so remember that vonded as a batch we shall go up the stage, and with the same bonding we will leave vch (hopefully shaking it and walking off with pride). be it off or on stage, we will always be there for one another yeah?

and btw tiff fyi smiling does help. cos its builds your confidence. and even of your overconfident it doesnt really matter now. cos in the end confidence helps you to play out and everything. basically its makes you sound better. so when our instrus are not taking up the space in our mouth [and neither is food] we should smileeeee! ok batch08?

ok firstly i want to apologise. i know i've offended a lot of people, so i'm sorry. and i didn't mean to write that. but i guess i'm just stressed like everyone is. so sorry to everyone who read this and those i mentioned and stuff. i don't want anyone to misunderstand me, but i seriously don't hate our directs. but i think i made it seem like i do. i still believe they don't hate us and regardless of the situation, they're still our directs and forever will be. so, i'm sincerely sorry for whatever i've said, and please forgive me! cadenza x is our first and last concert with our directs, so we must make the best out of it. make it like disney! somehow disney always has this kind of magical feeling.

and to the seniors, thank you for everything you've done. and we're sorry for all the things we've done to make you disappointed, sad and angry and we hope we can change for the better and make yall be proud of us. we will. we really want to. and if if IF we don't, at least we know we've tried.

i don't know if i'll be contradicting any of you or if you'll be hating me by the end of this post but i think.. we shouldn't be too affected by what others say.

i don't think the directs really hate us to such an extent. i mean, if they did, they wouldn't have 'scolded' us that time in the kschee. we wouldn't even matter to them such that they wasted their voices and tears on us. as in, i think they do care for us. oh man i don't know how to explain.

but pleasepleaseplease don't feel so bad. and uhm. don't be so sarcastic yeah. cos cadenza's only twenty days and no matter what internal misunderstandings or anything we have, we're still gonna appear on stage as a band, rgssb. we've got to play tgthr no matter what and wouldn't it be better for all of us to play happily and not like.. like.. having animosity between you and the person next to you?

i mean, the seniors may appear to hate us a lot but you see, we were brought up under the new band system, and i think they hated the new band system more than us. just take a look at the main band's standard now. as in, please please please cheer up and don't feel so sad. and yall have to smile cos no matter what, we've got to get through cadenza. and no matter how much you hate your directs or anything (which i hope is not the case), in the end you're really gonna miss them.

batch 08 dont be too sad...shi1 bai4 nai3 cheng2 gong1 zhi1 mu3, so if you fall, pick yourself up again. sometimes we shouldnt care too much about what others say, when they dun really care and we mean nothing to them. after all, cadenza's ours, and noone can take it away from us. no matter what they say, if they say we suck, all the more get the drive to work harder to prove them wrong. cadenza wasnt going to be easy, and if you didnt realise it earlier, you should have by now. but its cos of the amount of work you put in that success is even sweeter. work hard to prove those who put us down wrong, work hard for rgssb. for our seniors. for the audience. imagine their applause, their screams of encouragement. work towards that. and wrk hard for ourselves. we've come so far, after all the pracs, after learning how to master our instru, after inunion, after the scolding and tears, its just a month more. 30+ more days. just put in your all, just for this month more, and cadenza will be success. as long as you work hard, harder than you can ever imagine. if you think prac-ing once a week is enough, aim to prac 10 times a week. if you think 10 hours is your max, aim to reach 100 hours. you'll be surprised how much you can actually achieve.
dont dooubt your capacity. just jiayou. and remember that as long as we give our best, noone, esp pple who dont care about us, can put us down.
if you think of giving up, if you think that its not worth, think of this song. it has been my driving force towards cadenza.
